Upon landing, you will be transferred directly to the port where a motorboat will take you across the Antongil Bay to the Masoala Forest Lodge. Keep an eye out for dolphins and even whales during the scenic two-hour boat ride as you pass through the lush hills of the national park. Once you arrive at the Masoala Peninsula, the team will escort you along the golden private beach to the lodge. Enjoy a delightful lunch in the idyllic beach house before embarking on an optional exploration of the beach or a refreshing swim in the sea. Cap off the evening with a sundowner by the campfire as you relax and unwind.

Tag 2: First Excursion into the Masoala Rainforest

Embark on your first full day on the Masoala Peninsula with a hearty breakfast featuring freshly roasted coffee or a delightful selection of teas on the Sea Deck of the Masoala Forest Lodge. Take in the ocean views and savor the culinary delights of the region. After breakfast, your journey leads you along the beach towards the north. Before long, you will reach the primary and impressive rainforest, home to rare red ruffed lemurs, giant chameleons, and many other unique animals. Spend several hours with a private guide exploring the rainforest. Admire the gigantic ancient trees and have your camera ready to capture some of the elusive animals before they disappear into the undergrowth. After the tour, you will be taken back to the lodge by boat, where a lavish and energizing lunch awaits you. The afternoon can be tailored to your preferences. Opt for a snorkeling trip in the Indian Ocean and marvel at the wonderful coral reefs hidden beneath the surface. Or kayak to the secret bay, a truly magical place where you can admire fascinating rock formations and, with a bit of luck, even observe dolphins and sea turtles.

Day 3: Welcome back to the Masoala Rainforest

The third day of your journey starts with a delicious breakfast on the beautiful deck. Enjoy the various delicacies offered at the buffet and soak in the relaxed atmosphere. Afterwards, you will embark on a guided hike with your guide. Your first stop will be the coastal forest, where you may be lucky enough to spot the local Helmet Vanga and the adorable White-headed Lemur. From there, you will head to the Tampolo Waterfalls, which will amaze you with their spectacular views. The natural pools are perfect for a refreshing swim. You will return to the Masoala Forest Lodge on a traditional canoe, guided by an experienced lodge staff member. After a delicious lunch, you can spend the afternoon as you please. Beach outings, snorkeling trips, or kayaking are all great options. In the evening, you have the opportunity to join a guided night walk in the rainforest. On some days, you may even spot the extremely rare Aye-Ayes. To end this day of adventure, a delicious dinner at the beach house of the Masoala Forest Lodge awaits you.

Tag 4: Kayaking around Tampolo

Start your day with an unforgettable moment on the Sea Deck. Once you are sufficiently energized, hop on a kayak and head out to sea. Paddle around the Tampolo point to reach a dreamy beach on the sacred island. The turquoise water entices you for a refreshing dip before slowly gliding into the untouched mangroves. Explore the rivers surrounded by dense forest and encounter exciting flora and fauna. Some days, you might spot blue-spotted stingrays in the water and grey lemurs in the trees above. A beachfront dinner is planned for lunch on one of the tropical beaches. Enjoy a picnic under the palm trees and get a taste of paradise. After returning to the Masoala Forest Lodge, take a little siesta before an evening visit from a music group from the nearby village of Ambodiforaha, entertaining you with traditional tunes.

Tag 5: Exploring the Masoala Rainforest by Boat

Today, get ready for an exciting excursion into the rainforest that will take you deep into the lush jungle on a boat. But first, fuel up with a delicious breakfast at the Masoala Forest Lodge. Then, journey through the Tampolo Marine Parks to the Antalavia Waterfalls. Here, you'll find numerous natural pools where you can splash around and take a refreshing dip in a dreamy setting. If you're lucky, you may even spot some shy white-headed lemurs, who often hang out near the waterfalls. After a relaxing swim, indulge in a picnic on the beach. Following this treat, you'll have the unique opportunity to visit a family that has been living self-sufficiently in harmony with nature in the rainforest for generations. The family will guide you on a tour of their small farm, showcasing vanilla, coffee, cloves, coconuts, and exotic fruits. After returning, spend the evening enjoying dinner at the beach house and a cozy bonfire on the beach.

Day 6: Explore Ambodiforaha and its Surroundings

Today, after many excursions in the Masoala Rainforest, we have a bit of intercultural encounter on the agenda. After breakfast on the Sea Deck of the Masoala Forest Lodge, you will be guided through the coastal forest to the rice fields belonging to the village of Ambodiforaha. There, you will usually be welcomed by the Betsimisaraka people, who are happy to give you an insight into their traditions, culture, and way of life. The friendly residents often invite visitors into their homes to show them traditionally woven baskets and mats. Lunch will be back at the Masoala Forest Lodge. If you'd like, you can take the opportunity for a relaxing and very traditional pirogue ride afterwards. Dinner with its culinary delights will once again be served at the Lodge.

Day 7: Customize this day according to your wishes

On the penultimate day of your journey through Madagascar, you have the entire day at your disposal. You have the freedom to decide which adventures you still want to experience today. Feel free to reach out to us if you need any assistance in planning your day. How about a romantic picnic on a small private beach, all to yourselves? Swim, snorkel, and enjoy the gentle waves of the Indian Ocean one last time. Alternatively, you can revisit the Masoala Rainforest and look out for rare birds and fascinating lemurs. For those who prefer to relax after the adventures of the past few days, simply unwind in a hammock and bask in the sun and the indescribable atmosphere. As the sun sets, indulge in another sundowner on the beach. Today, you can also look forward to a traditionally prepared and presented dinner: rice and grilled fish served with traditional sauces and snacks on Ravenala leaves. This is another exciting experience that you shouldn't miss out on.

Day 8: A trip to Nosy Mangabe to conclude your adventure

As you wrap up your journey to the Masoala Peninsula, the last day is filled with a sense of excitement for new beginnings, yet it still offers some essential experiences and adventures to enjoy. After breakfast, hop on a motorboat to head to Nosy Mangabe. This nature reserve on an island rises from the waters of Antongil Bay and is home to numerous unique animals and plants that you must discover. You can also visit some 17th-century graves on a beach, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. Once again, enjoy a picnic on the beach before the boat takes you back to Maroantsetra. From there, board your flight back to Antananarivo, ending your journey with unforgettable memories and experiences.
