Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo

Your first day in Madagascar is all about your arrival. We will pick you up at Ivato Airport in the capital city of Antananarivo and take you to your accommodation at Villa Sibylle. If you have any special requests for meals or drinks upon arrival, please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements for you.

Day 2 Journey from Antananarivo to Antsirabe

On the second day of your Madagascar adventure, you will travel from the capital Antananarivo to Antsirabe. The journey will take you through the bustling suburbs of the capital and then through Behenjy and Ambatolampy. You will stop for lunch in one of these two towns and enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants. After that, you will continue on to Antsirabe, an important economic hub in Madagascar. The distance from Antananarivo to Antsirabe is approximately 170 kilometers and is adorned with stunning landscapes. Antsirabe itself charms visitors with its charming colonial villas and European flair. You will stay at the Chambres du Voyageur hotel, where you may have the chance to spot numerous chameleons and even radiated tortoises in the garden.

Day 3 - Journey from Antsirabe to Ranomafana

On the third day of the trip, you will have the opportunity to visit an exciting reforestation project. Orange trees are cultivated in this project for reforestation purposes. We will then drive directly to the nearby Ambositra, a small town known for artistic wood carvings made from precious woods. After lunch, head to Ranomafana National Park. On the way there, you will once again witness breathtaking landscapes and a vegetation that becomes greener as you go. In the evening, relax with a soak in a thermal swimming pool and spend the night at the Hotel des Thermes.

Day 4 - Visit to Ranomafana National Park

On the fourth day of your journey through Madagascar, the Ranomafana National Park is the destination. Covering over 40,000 hectares and located at an altitude of about 1,300 meters above sea level, this park is home to numerous different species of lemurs, insects, birds, frogs, and reptiles in the mountain rainforest. With some luck, you may come across some particularly spectacular specimens to capture on camera. The specific activities at Ranomafana National Park will be tailored to your individual preferences and fitness level. You will spend the night back at the Hotel des Thermes, where you can relax after the day's extraordinary adventures. The hotel's garden is known to be a hotspot for spotting chameleons and even radiated tortoises.

Day 5 - Drive from Fianarantsoa to Ambalavao

After the exciting tours through Ranomafana National Park, the journey through Madagascar continues on the fifth day of the trip. You will pass through many small villages where you can get a glimpse of the lifestyle of the Malagasy people, and through extraordinary landscapes that change rapidly. In Fianarantsoa, we will take a break, giving you the opportunity to explore the city and, if you wish, observe an internationally renowned photographer at work. Then, we will head southwards. As you look out the window during this stretch, you will discover massive granite rocks, blood-red laterite soils, and increasingly sparse grass – clear signs that the southern part of Madagascar is getting closer. Once in Ambalavao, you will have various options to choose from. Visiting a nearby village where we have been implementing a project for a drinking water well for over ten years is one option, as well as exploring the local zebu market, which is always a spectacle. Accommodation for the night will be at the Betsileo Country Lodge.

Day 6 - From Ambalavao to Ranohira to Isalo National Park

The sixth day starts with a hike in a private reserve called Anja Park. This reserve is about three hectares in size and is home to numerous lemurs who are eagerly waiting for your visit with their lively nature. In addition to lemurs, you can also discover various reptiles, cave tombs, and spiritual gathering places of the Betsileo ethnic group in Anja Park. After the hike, we continue our journey by car heading south. We are expected to arrive in Ranohira by the afternoon. This stop takes us to the Isalo National Park, which will be our main destination the next day. First, we will enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the Isalo Rock Hotel.

Day 7 - The Isalo National Park

On the seventh day, you will explore one of the most famous national parks in Madagascar, the Isalo National Park. This park features a massive mountain range where granite and sandstone sculptures alternate with waterfalls and tropical nature. Covering over 80,000 hectares, the entire park offers a wide range of landscapes. The difficulty level and length of the tour through the park will be tailored to your personal preferences and physical condition. After an exciting day trip, you will spend the night at the Isalo Rock Lodge (4****).

Day 8 - Drive from Ranohira to Sarondrano via Ilakaka

On the eighth day of your Madagascar journey, bid farewell to Ranohira and continue your journey further south by car. Along the way, there are various opportunities for excursions: the sapphire mines of Ilakaka, the Zombitse Vohibasia National Park, or the giant baobab trees are just three examples. You will leave Tulear behind and head straight to Sarondrano. Here, a breathtaking peninsula stretches into the sea, with gorgeous dream beaches awaiting you. You will stay at the Résidence Eden Lodge, an excellent guesthouse that is still considered a hidden gem on the island.

Day 9 to 11: Stay in Sarondrano and Surroundings

Days nine to eleven of your Madagascar journey are dedicated to various day trips and individual activities. During these three days, you will exclusively stay in Sarondrano and the nearby area, with accommodation at the wonderful Résidence Eden Lodge. You have the freedom to customize your daily itinerary, and we are here to assist you every step of the way: Relaxing hours on the dream beach, sailing trips, diving excursions, or a boat ride to see humpback whales are all possibilities. Simply reach out to us, and we will create a customized program tailored to your individual preferences. Let's make these days unforgettable!

Day 12-Flight from Tulear to Antananarivo

The twelfth day is filled with a sense of excitement: After the relaxing days in Sarondrano, it's time to head back to Tulear and from there, take a direct flight to the capital city of Antananarivo. Depending on the time of day, you can explore the surrounding area, or head straight to the Villa Sybille hotel for a comfortable stay or to an extraordinary restaurant with excellent dining options.

Day 13: Antananarivo to Andasibe

Early in the morning, you will drive east on the winding and well-maintained RN 2. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous private reserve "MadagascarExotique" owned by the renowned researcher Andre Pereyras, where you can see an incredible variety of reptiles, amphibians, and lemurs posing fearlessly for the camera in a nearby forest. Moramanga is the next stop before heading to the nearby area of Analamazoatra. Close to the Andasibe National Park, you will settle in and have the chance to listen to the calls of the Indri-Indri lemurs, who often venture into the hotel grounds. Overnight stay at the "Eulophiella Lodge or equivalent".

Day 14- Andasibe and Mitsinjo

Today, after breakfast, we will visit the Mitsinjo Reserve. During the several-hour hike, you will have the chance to see Indri-Indris and other highly rare animal and plant species. Upon returning to the hotel in the late morning, we will head to the "Vakona Zoo": on the famous Lemurs Island, accessible by boat, you will find numerous lemurs that were once taken from illegal captivity and "reintroduced" here. However, these animals have lost all fear and will literally jump on visitors, so it is highly recommended to wear washable rain gear. The nearby forest is home to a large number of crocodiles, the rare "Fossa", and other unique animals that can be explored on a 1-2 hour guided tour. Night walks in the rainforest are also possible from the lodge. Overnight at the "Eulophiella Lodge"

Day 15: Andasibe to Antananarivo

In the morning, you have the option to explore another area of Andasibe National Park, or you can start your leisurely drive towards Antananarivo. Along the way, there are several optional stops and activities that will be suggested based on the participants' interests. Overnight stay at "Villa Sibylle".

Day 16: Stay in Antananarivo and its Surroundings

On the second to last day of your exciting journey through Madagascar, the capital city of the island nation, Antananarivo, is on the agenda. In Antananarivo, there are numerous opportunities for you to go on a exploration tour. One example of a real attraction is the Lemurs Park, where many of these adorable animals can be closely observed. For this day, we have arranged a Day Use at the Villa Sybille for you to store your luggage and freshen up in the evening before we take you to the airport.

Day 17: The Return Flight to Europe

The last day of your 17-day vacation in Madagascar is all about the return journey. You will spend this day on the plane back to Europe and likely dream about the various experiences and impressions from your trip through Madagascar.
