SIM – CCIFM

As part of strengthening collaboration between the France Madagascar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFM) and the Union of Industries of Madagascar (SIM), the two entities have a strategic partnership agreement aimed at better serving their respective members and promoting the development of the Malagasy economy. SIM and CCIFM will implement joint activities and events, promoting the exchange of skills and resources, and strengthening the ties between their members. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing the skills of members of both organizations, by facilitating access to networking opportunities, mentoring, training, and useful resources to enhance their competitiveness. CCIFM and SIM will also work together to mobilize financial resources for joint projects or collaborative events, thereby enhancing their capacity to serve their members. Through this partnership, CCIFM and SIM intend to support Malagasy economic actors, encourage synergies between businesses, and actively contribute to the economic development of Madagascar.

TRADITIONAL GAMES

The “Andron’ny Kilalao Malagasy” is held this Wednesday, November 27th at Lapa Masoandro in Rovan’i Madagasikara. Various recreational activities, including “katro,” “tsobato,” “fanorona,” “raosijamba,” and “avy mangataka,” are organized there. Sessions of storytelling of “angano,” these Malagasy tales and legends, are also planned. In addition to the promotion of traditional games and the promotion of Malagasy culture, this event aims “to strengthen the bond between generations and preserve ancestral cultural practices while creating a space for sharing and conviviality,” it is said.

PACT

A meeting of the Technical Committee of the Transport Connectivity Support Project (PACT) was held yesterday at the Carlton Anosy, providing an opportunity to review the road works already completed and those currently in progress since the project’s launch on March 13, 2020. During this meeting, a presentation of the objectives to be achieved by 2025 also took place. It should be noted that the main objective of the PACT project is to improve connectivity in rural areas, in order to promote the socio-economic development of local communities. According to the Ministry of Public Works, the project is divided into four components. These include the rehabilitation of national roads, such as the RN44 which connects Marovoay to Vohidiala in the Alaotra Mangoro region, as well as the RNT12A which connects Somisika to Masianaka in the Atsimo Atsinanana region; the improvement of regional, communal, and unclassified road infrastructure in specific areas of the regions concerned; the promotion of digital solutions for the benefit of rural communities; and finally, capacity building and project management, to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of implemented initiatives.

SLAM

Under the sponsorship of the United States Embassy, Marc Kelly Smith, the founder of the slam poetry movement, will be present at the 15th edition of the International Slam Poetry Festival of Madagascar, which will take place from November 28th to December 7th. This is the first time that Marc Smith is visiting the Big Island, where he will participate in events at schools, workshops at the University of Antananarivo, and perform alongside Malagasy artists. The purpose of this visit is to promote the art of slam while strengthening cultural ties between the United States and Madagascar, and encouraging artistic expression, according to the American embassy. Marc Smith, recognized as the father of slam, revolutionized this form of poetry by offering poets a space to express their emotions and stories.

FIANAR REGGAE FESTIVAL 2024

As part of the Ony project, the SunSka festival, led by Fred Lachaize, has been selected to accompany the Fianar Reggae Festival, which will celebrate its tenth edition in 2024. SunSka, one of the largest reggae festivals in France, will join Madagascar in 2025 to promote the exchange of practices and foster cultural collaborations between France and Madagascar. It is worth noting that the Ony project, initiated by rapper Orelsan and his wife Ahelya Ramdriambolaina, aims to support Malagasy talents in the fields of music, cinema, and video games to assist them in their development.
