CORRUPTION AND WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING

The “Fight against Corruption and Wildlife Trafficking” project was officially closed on December 6, after three years of implementation. Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Madagascar, in collaboration with WWF Madagascar, Transparency International Initiative Madagascar (TI-MG), Alliance Voahary Gasy (AVG), and TRAFFIC, this project has achieved significant progress, it is reported. Among them are the integration of anti-corruption efforts in the update of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, the strengthening of skills of judicial police schools and magistrates, as well as the optimization of the judicial system to facilitate prosecutions against traffickers. This project has also played a crucial role in developing tools to combat corruption and deepened the understanding of its impact on wildlife trafficking. Despite these notable advancements, the fight continues, emphasized WWF Madagascar, as corruption and trafficking continue to pose major challenges requiring increased vigilance and strengthened cooperation.
