Madagascar’s performance at the 2024 World Pétanque Championship in Dijon, France, is the result of rigorous preparation, according to the Malagasy Sports Boules Federation (FSBM), with an intensive technical program and optimal coaching for the players. The team also benefited from a favorable working environment in Dijon, including a covered boulodrome and a meeting space with supporters. This success marks the beginning of a renewed ambition for Malagasy pétanque, calling for more support for future challenges, emphasizes the FSBM. It is worth noting that Madagascar brilliantly participated in this championship, winning the “World Precision Shooting Champion” title and the “World Vice-Champion” title in Triplette.

CTN CARION

The renovation works of the National Technical Center (CTN) in Carion include the rehabilitation of the cafeteria as well as the replacement of the main field with a synthetic turf approved by FIFA, says Alfred Randriamanampisoa, President of the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF). The official launching ceremony of the works took place on site on December 13, 2024. On this occasion, the Federation also received vehicles, offered as part of the FIFA Forward program.

FOREST POLICY

WWF Madagascar has initiated a collective work to identify and disseminate good practices in forest policy within the Manambolo-Tsiribihina landscape, with emphasis on the application of Dina (community regulations) and the development of management plans. In November, a workshop brought together various stakeholders to share local experiences on natural resource management, highlighting the importance of community participation and inclusion, particularly of women, to strengthen the implementation of Dina.

The Group of Companies of Madagascar (GEM) reaffirms its commitment to support educational initiatives, promote employability, and foster the country’s economic development. During the ceremony for the awarding of M1 Management Certificates at the Faculty of Economics, Management, and Sociology (EGS) of the University of Antananarivo, the president of GEM, Francis Rabarijohn, shared his experience and gave advice to students to prepare them for the workforce. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the academic world and businesses. It should be noted that 320 students from the Management program, distributed among the tracks of Auditing and Control, Finance and Accounting, Management and Business Administration, as well as Marketing and International Trade, received their certificates during the ceremony.

PAC FIANARANTSOA

As part of the official launch of the Anti-Corruption Pole (PAC) in Fianarantsoa, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has handed over materials to ensure the operationalization of this structure. These materials include furniture for courtrooms and offices, computer equipment to facilitate the work of judges and clerks, as well as a 4×4 vehicle. The UNDP has also supported the funding of rehabilitation works for the PAC building in Fianarantsoa. Through these provisions and its continued support for updating the National Strategy for Fighting Against Corruption for the period 2025-2030, the UNDP reaffirms its commitment to accompanying the country in its fight against corruption.

USPN

100 police officers underwent training from November 4th to December 13th to obtain the certification required to join specialized units of the Malagasy National Police, such as the Special Intervention Unit (USI), the Quick Intervention Unit (UIR), and the Anti-Gang Unit (SAG). These units are involved in complex operations such as kidnappings and hostage takings. The training covered various subjects including weaponry, shooting, tactics, and personal protection, with workshops on intervention security led by the Interior Security Service. Candidates who successfully complete the program will receive their certification from the Specialized Units of the National Police (USPN) during a ceremony on December 23rd, before joining their respective units.
