TECHNICAL EDUCATION
The national success rate was respectively 82.24%, 92.52%, and 89.70% for the Vocational Studies Certificate, the Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, and the Certificate of Professional Aptitude, reports the Ministry of Technical and Vocational Education. At the end of the entrance exam for the first year in technical and vocational high schools, 56.78% of candidates were also admitted. Note that candidates for the technical baccalaureate will be starting the first part of the exam this week, with the second part scheduled from July 29th to August 1st.

EXTRAORDINARY SESSION-CUA
The detailed urban planning (PUDé) of the waterfront area of the Iarivo East and North bypass (PADARNE) is on the agenda of the extraordinary session of the Municipal Council of the city of Antananarivo that started on Monday and will continue until Wednesday, July 24. COMBATING ILLEGAL FISHING
The surveillance boat Atsantsa 1 was officially handed over to Mahajanga.The speedboat will be used to strengthen maritime surveillance in the area, with the aim of intensifying the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing). DONOVAN RAKOTONANAHARY
After being courted by several college coaches, Ankoay Donovan Rakotonanahary has made his choice and signed with Northern Kentucky University. He is thus the first Malagasy male basketball player to play at the Division 1 level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship. “It’s a big step for me in terms of basketball and education because only 1% of basketball players in America have the opportunity to play and continue their studies at the NCAA D1 level and I am so blessed to be part of it,” said the Malagasy international, former student of Oak Hill Academy.

MASHOUD EMAMSAIB – BOWLING
Mauritian bowler Mashoud Emamsaib is currently in Madagascar. He will be conducting training sessions on July 24 and 26 at Strike Club in Akoor Digue. The session on July 24 is intended for learners aged 10 to 18, and the one on July 26 for those aged 19 and above. Registrations are open at Strike Club in Akoor Digue. Mashoud Emamsaib is a bowling expert. He is currently the president of the Mauritius Bowling Federation and the number 1 Mauritian bowler. Since starting bowling in 1997, he has participated in numerous international tournaments such as the World Cup (2000 and 2019), the African Games, and the Arnold Classic. The “Strike Club” bowling alley opened in February at Akoor Digue, with the ambition of becoming the must-visit destination for chic moments and after-work activities. MADAGASCAR-WORLD BANK
On a mission to Madagascar, the World Bank’s Global Director of Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment, Manuela Francisco, was received at Mahazoarivo by Prime Minister Christian Ntsay. Support for the development of Madagascar was the focus of the discussions, including support for the economy, job creation, youth training, and energy. On this occasion, the Prime Minister presented the general state policy regarding these various areas.

The Malagasy Professional Training Fund (FMFP) is launching its 16th Inter-company Sectoral Project Call for Proposals (AP16 PIS). Contributors are invited to apply to benefit from the financing offer of up to 32,000,000 MGA. This call for proposals targets two or more contributing companies from the same sector, organizations, or business groups acting on behalf of the sector. The sectors affected are THA (Textile, Clothing, Accessories), THR (Tourism, Hospitality, Restauration), and ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The project submission deadline is August 14.

IVATO AIRPORT
After a visit to Ivato International Airport, President Andry Rajoelina held a working session on Tuesday with various airport stakeholders during which he reiterated the imperative need to definitively end corruption. The head of state notably stressed that the various acts of corruption, abuse, and racketeering undermine border services at Antananarivo Airport and have negative repercussions on the economy, with a deterrent effect on tourists, businessmen, and anyone visiting Madagascar for either professional or personal reasons. The President of the Republic announced exemplary sanctions against corrupt agents, ranging from a simple warning to dismissal. Among the proposed solutions to put an end to corruption and the various abuses that are destroying the country’s image, President Rajoelina mentioned the digitalization of visa issuance services. He also indicated the establishment of a steering committee that should establish, validate, and monitor the list of state agents who have access to Ivato International Airport as part of their work, in order to avoid any abuses. The President of the Republic also mentioned the implementation of a rotation system for agents stationed at Ivato Airport. These agents should be renewed every year, according to his directives. Strengthening awareness of passenger rights regarding goods to be declared or not, and the quotas for each passenger and each merchandise, is also important, according to the head of state. Note that all these measures will be adopted during the Council of Ministers to be held tomorrow.

COOPERATION
An Emirati delegation from UAE Chambers was welcomed on Monday at the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology. This visit aims to enhance strategic partnerships in the transport and meteorology sector. According to the explanations, major transportation and meteorology projects awaiting funding were presented to Emirati investors during this meeting, as part of an ambitious dynamic to stimulate economic growth and enhance the country’s tourism potential. The objective is to identify investment opportunities and promote mutually beneficial collaborations. It should be noted that strengthening security and safety systems for transportation infrastructure, the implementation of meteorological radar, modernizing rolling stock equipment for both public and administrative use, as well as digitizing transportation services, are among the priorities discussed during this meeting.

ANEMIA
In Madagascar, 40% of children under five years old have stunted growth, which means that their height is too small for their age. During the 2021 Demographic and Health Survey (EDSMD-V 2021), blood samples were taken from children and women in half of the households to estimate the prevalence of anemia. The results show that in Madagascar, 46% of children aged 6-59 months are affected by anemia, most of them in mild form. The prevalence of anemia in children varies by region, from 27% in Haute Matsiatra to 62% in Atsimo Atsinanana. The prevalence of anemia in children has decreased from 69% in 2003-04 to 46% in 2021. One quarter of women aged 15-49 have anemia, most of them in mild form. One third of pregnant women are affected by anemia. On a regional level, the prevalence of anemia in women ranges from 13% in Haute Matsiatra to 46% in Atsimo Atsinanana. The prevalence of anemia in women has also decreased, from 44% in 2003-04 to 35% in 2008-09 to 26% in 2021.
