Adventure with children at Masoala – Kids travel with Masoala Forest Lodge

Adventure with Kids on the Masoala Peninsula

A Paradise for Children

The Masoala Peninsula is located in the northeast of the island state. During your vacation in Madagascar, we offer you and especially your children, along with the Masoala Forest Lodge, the unique opportunity to explore the unforgettable tropical nature in this rainforest reserve of Masoala National Park freely and unrestrictedly, without having to worry about your children.

Seeing the World through Your Children's Eyes

We could really make family safaris well, in 20 years we have gained a lot of experience with it.

A family vacation is truly a work of art and not always easy to achieve. You have a group of people of different ages, different interests, different genders, and their own individual opinions... and you have to make sure they are all happy!

Children of all ages are welcome, and there are safe facilities for them. The environment is flat and well-maintained, with staff who can specifically take care of children.

The Masoala Forest Lodge is so secluded, only accessible by foot or by sea. It offers absolute exclusivity in a remote corner of Masoala National Park.

This small and intimate lodge with a limited capacity for a maximum of 14 guests provides excellent access to some of Madagascar's rare and endemic species, as well as the miles of beaches along the coast.

The Masoala Forest Lodge is the perfect camp for a family vacation.

Day 1: Arrive in Maroantsetra with a Private Flight

For your tour in the rainforest of the Masoala Peninsula, Maroantsetra is the first stop. You will land with a private charter flight from Antananarivo. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred directly to the harbor. A motorboat will then take you across the Antongil Bay to the Masoala Forest Lodge. With some luck, you may already spot some dolphins and whales during the nearly two-hour journey, as they call the bay home. You will also enjoy a magnificent view of the forested hills of the peninsula national park during the crossing. Upon arrival at the Masoala Peninsula, the team will accompany you across the golden private beach to the lodge. There, you can enjoy a lunch in the idyllic beach house. Afterwards, you can choose to embark on an initial exploration, either relaxing on the beach or taking a refreshing dip in the sea. In the evening, a sundowner by the campfire is planned.

Day 2: First Excursion in the Masoala Rainforest

Masoala boasts a family-friendly flora and fauna: there are no poisonous plants or animals that children could encounter while exploring the rainforest - not even annoying thorns stand in their way. Even when swimming, aquatic animals pose no danger. Unpleasant and annoying mosquitoes and other flying insects, which are usually ubiquitous in the tropics, are present in Masoala only in small numbers. What's also unusual is that in this natural paradise, there are no tropical diseases. In the Masoala Reserve, the typical dangers of the tropical zone such as poisonous snakes or spiders, leeches, sea urchins, or even sharks are not found. Tropical diseases like malaria or dengue fever are also non-existent. This safe environment offers you the opportunity to discover the breathtaking nature of the island of Madagascar without constantly worrying about the safety and well-being of your children. The activities will be discussed on-site and are already included in the price.

Day 3: Plenty of Activities for Your Children

There is plenty for your children to experience on the Masoala Peninsula. They can explore and conquer the forest without the accompaniment of adults. Our private reserve offers color-coded trails for easy navigation (see map). A special highlight is the treasure hunt organized by us. While playing in the forest, they may be lucky enough to spot some of Madagascar's rare animals like chameleons, frogs, geckos, or colorful butterflies. After the exciting treasure hunt, children can cool off by swimming at our private beach. They can also paddle sitting in a kayak or standing on the popular "stand-up paddle board". Snorkeling is another activity to discover the underwater world.

Day 4: Child-friendly Environment

At all activities, we offer 24-hour care by a nanny who will accompany your children throughout the day. This gives you the opportunity to make use of our full range of activities, including longer kayak trips or hikes, without subjecting yourself and your children to unnecessary stress on your vacation in Madagascar. Additionally, we provide children's menus during meals that are perfectly suited to the little ones' tastes. The suggestions and information presented above are primarily for inspiration. We are happy to tailor a possible program for you, ensuring that your trip to Madagascar meets all your expectations and desires, allowing you to enjoy all the important sights in Madagascar while knowing that your children are well taken care of and having a great time. Feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions - we are always here to help!

Day 5 and 6: Customize these days according to your wishes

During these two days of your Madagascar journey, you have complete freedom from morning till night. You get to decide which adventures you still want to experience and feel free to reach out to us if you need help planning. How about a romantic picnic on a small private beach all to yourself? Take a swim, snorkel, and enjoy the gentle waves of the Indian Ocean. Alternatively, you can revisit the Masoala Rainforest and look out for rare birds and fascinating lemurs. If you prefer to relax after the adventures of the past few days, simply unwind in a hammock and let the sun and unforgettable atmosphere pamper you. Moreover, today you can savor a traditionally prepared and presented dinner: rice and grilled fish served with traditional sauces and snacks on Ravenala leaves. This is another exciting experience you shouldn't miss out on.

Day 7: Concluding Your Journey with a Trip to Nosy Mangabe

As you embark on the final day of your trip to the Masoala Peninsula, there is a sense of excitement in the air, with some essential experiences and adventures still in store. After breakfast, you will head by motorboat to Nosy Mangabe. This nature reserve on an island jutting out of the waters of Antongil Bay is home to numerous unique animals and plants that you simply must discover. You can also visit some graves from the 17th century on a beach, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. Following this, enjoy a beach picnic before the boat takes you back to Maroantsetra. From there, you will board a plane back to Antananarivo.
