Take A Tour

Andasibe National Park is a popular tourist destination in Madagascar known for its diverse wildlife and lush rainforest.

The Andasibe National Park in the east of Madagascar is a must-visit for all tourists staying in the capital city of Antananarivo. This original primary forest is home to many exotic and extraordinary species of animals and plants. The Mitsinjo Reserve is especially interesting for herpetological trips, focusing on frogs and scientific expeditions. The Indri-Indri lemurs are, of course, the most famous attraction in the Andasibe National Park. Many of these species are already endangered and can hardly find the necessary food resources they need to survive anywhere else on the island. Our three-day tour through the Andasibe National Park is designed for nature enthusiasts who do not want to compromise on comfort. The exact details of the tour will be discussed with the experienced guides based on the travelers' fitness levels. If you would like more information about this three-day adventure, feel free to contact us. The various services and stops of this short journey through Madagascar are presented below. This tour is an ideal complement to the highland route from Antananarivo to Tulear, for the east with Sainte Marie, for Masoala, or for the north of Madagascar. Few visitors will be able to resist hearing the calls of an Indri-Indri family echoing for miles for the first time.

Day 1 - Antananarivo to Andasibe via Perinet

The road from Antananarivo to Andasibe was once notorious for heavy traffic, mainly trucks loaded with containers slowly making their way from the port in Tamatave towards the capital. Tight, mountainous hairpin curves, especially in the breathtaking valleys of the forest corridor between Manjakandriana and Ambodiamontana, pose a challenge for truck drivers. Along the way, you have the opportunity to visit the famous private reserve "MadagascarExotique" owned by the renowned researcher Andre Pereyras, where an incredible variety of reptiles, amphibians, and lemurs pose fearlessly for the camera in a nearby forest area. Moramanga is the next stop before heading to the nearby area of Analamazoatra. Stay overnight at the "Eulophiella Lodge," where an exciting night walk in the rainforest can also be organized.

Day 2 - Andasibe / Mitsinjo

The Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is the official title given to the forest area operated as part of the national park program. It consists of two separate forest sections of drastically different sizes, with the smaller one receiving the most visitors. This smaller area, the Analamazaotra Reserve, is the main attraction in Andasibe-Mantadia in terms of numbers. Due to its smaller size, it is advantageous for observing the Indri and Diadem Sifakas and its consistently secondary forest, which provides a balance between those who do not want a guided garden path and those who do not want to go through dense jungle or steep inclines. Despite its small size, it is hard to pinpoint where it ends inside, making it easy to feel completely immersed in the rainforest.

Day 3 – Mantadia or Mitsinjo

Mantadia is located north of the village of Andasibe and requires a means of transportation to reach its entrance. Mantadia has a large proportion of primary forest and is much more challenging to hike than the Analamazaotra Reserve. This probably explains why it is much more attractive to some and much less so to others. Many wild animals may be harder to spot here, but on the other hand, for those who shy away from human visits, it may offer easier insights into certain wildlife. Mantadia provides a more secluded home for them. For those who do not wish for strenuous hikes, an alternative in the easily accessible part of Andasibe/Mitsinjo is recommended.

Day 4 - Let's keep going...either to Antananarivo or to Ankan’y Nofy.

On this day, it all depends on which tour Andasibe is connected to: you may head to Ankanin’Nofy if it was a tour linked to the East, go south to Antsirabe if the RN7 variant is the main tour, or return to Antananarivo if the northern part of Madagascar is next on the itinerary. The tour ends in the afternoon of this fourth day.
