Motorcycle Journey – Enduro Sport Tour from the Highlands to the Deep South

Enduro Tour for Adventure Riders

11 Days – (9 on the motorcycle) – 1460 km

DIFFICULTY: TOUGH

This tour is also available in a long version without domestic flights.

Due to Madagascar's low road density, an exceptional network of tracks has emerged. With an area as large as France and Belgium combined, every city and village in Madagascar is connected to an extensive network of several hundred kilometers in length. Five thousand kilometers of coastline and seven peaks each over 2,000 meters high, mountains, and desert.

Madagascar is a blast!

Welcome to our Baobab Tour!

We offer this 11-day tour specifically for bikers who already have off-road experience on motorcycles.

To master the route and cross the landscapes safely, athleticism and a minimum of technical skills are required. Sometimes the red laterite soil is as hard as concrete, and sometimes it turns into an ice rink when rain comes into play.

And the sand tracks are no child's play either.

Duration and length of the tour and milestones on the route:

11 days / 10 nights, with 9 days on the motorcycle

Villa Sibylle is a private guesthouse located near the airport, surrounded by a tropical garden. Relax from your flight and enjoy your first dinner in Madagascar there with an overnight stay.

Day 2: From Antananarivo to Ampefy

Distance: 100 miles (160 km) on asphalt and dirt roads It's time to meet your motorcycle and your guide. Get ready for your first ride: leaving the bustling and somewhat chaotic streets of Antananarivo, you'll travel on a good road between majestic mountains and rice fields heading west. Along the way, you can visit the fascinating Lemur Park. Around Ampefy, you'll have the opportunity to discover the Itasy Lake, volcanoes, geysers, and waterfalls. Dinner and overnight stay at Farihy Hotel.

Day 3: From Ampefy to Antsirabe

Route length: 93 miles (150 km) on asphalt and dirt roads Experience the unique thrill of roads and tracks on the third Day. You will traverse beautiful landscapes with rice fields dotted with a variety of villages featuring typical architecture. After this long journey, you will arrive in Antsirabe in the afternoon. Antsirabe is the highest city in the country, sitting at around 1600 meters above sea level. There are beautiful lakes of volcanic origin in the area. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Chambres du Voyageur.

Day 4: From Antsirabe to Ambatofinandrahana

Distance: 100 miles (160 km) on asphalt and dirt roads After a restful night's sleep, you depart Antsirabe at sunrise heading south. You will travel on Route Nationale 7 (RN7) until Ivato-Centre, then veer off the main road onto dirt roads at the foot of the Itremo Mountains. Your off-road adventure in Madagascar begins now! Enjoy dinner and spend the night at "Hotel du Marbre", the only hotel in Ambatofinandrahana.

Day 5: From Ambatofinandrahana to Morondava

Distance: 236 miles (380 km) on laterite, sand, and asphalt Early rising will soon be rewarded with beautiful mountain trails. The gates to the great West open before you as you cross the mountains of Itremo and its highest pass at over 2000 m. The descent to the West Coast offers pilots spectacular landscapes off the beaten path. Dinner and overnight stay at the Kimony Lodge Hotel in Morondava.

Day 6: From Morondava to Kirindy

Distance: 51 km on sand Embark on a short but intense journey through the sand of the famous Baobab Avenue, passing by majestic, ancient baobab trees. Afterwards, visit the Kirindy Reserve with its unique endemic ecosystem and resident Fossas, a native predator species. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the Kirindy Resort hotel.

Day 7: From Morondava to Manja

Route length: 68 miles (110 km) on sand Embark on one of the most intense stages of the tour starting from Morondava in the morning. The day kicks off with an impressive crossing of the Kabatomena River, which is over 50 meters wide. The route then takes you through a bush landscape to the salt lake of Belo. Crossing the salt lake can be challenging or even impossible during high tide. Our journey continues through the wilderness to the finish line in Manja. The only hotel in town may not offer much, but it provides a pleasant and relaxing retreat after the challenging stage in deep sand. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Kanto.

Day 8: From Manja to Andavadoaka

Distance: 136 miles (220 km) on laterite and sand Embark on a challenging day of motorcycling as we navigate various terrains with different technical requirements: sometimes sandy, sometimes hard laterite with termite mounds, and sometimes rocky tracks. Take in the savannah landscape with massive baobab trees and euphorbias stretching to the banks of the Mangoky River. Cross the river on a ferry and continue on to Andavadoaka. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Manga Lodge.

Day 9: From Andavadoaka to Salary

Distance: 43 miles (70 km) on sand This is the shortest leg on one of Madagascar's most challenging routes. Along a stunning coastline dotted with baobab trees, you'll find the largest and most pristine sandy beaches imaginable. There's no room for stopping along the way, or you'll get stuck in the deep sand. Focus and technique are essential. You'll be able to relax and unwind in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Salary Bay Hotel.

Day 10: From Salary to Tulear

Distance: 62 miles (100 km) on sand and laterite The track widens as we encounter huge bush trucks transporting people, cotton, and other goods on overflowing platforms. Today, you will have to drive more slowly: it's market day in many villages we pass through. You'll need to use the horn more often to get through. Large sand dunes signal our arrival at the coast. When you arrive in the fishing village of Ifaty, you can relax on the beach before reaching Tulear as our final destination. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Moringa.

Day 11: From Tulear to Antananarivo (Domestic flight)

A taxi will pick you up from the hotel and take you directly to the airport. This marks the end of our services, as the motorcycles will be returned in Tulear. Of course, we can offer extension tours or additional services in Antananarivo until your return flight, and we can also handle bookings for domestic flights if needed.
