Day 5 - Miandrivazo to Morondava
Day stage of 286 km Asphalt
This day will take you to the first coastal city on the Mozambique Channel, Morondava.
The landscape of high plateaus gives way to arid steppes, dotted here and there with the first baobab trees of the road trip.
We will then continue on the well-maintained highway through a savannah-like landscape all the way down to Morondava, where we will arrive in the afternoon.
Located right by the sea, this is the center of the Sakalava tribe of Menabe. |
|
Day 6 - Morondava - Bekopaka
Day Trip of 200 km Track
This day on 100% track will take you through the famous Baobab Alley and the Kirindy Reserve to Bakopaka, a stopover before the Tsingy of Bemaraha.
Continue to Tsimafana, then cross the Tsiribihina River by ferry to Belo sur Tsiribihina.
Continue to Bekopaka on mostly sandy tracks, through dry forest, savannah, and occasionally spotting Baobab trees.
Just before arriving in Bekopaka, take a short ferry transfer across the Manambolo River.
Overnight at the hotel. |
|
Day 7 - Tsingy of Bemaraha
Tsingy is the Malagasy word for "tiptoeing," and the almost impenetrable labyrinth of limestone needles justifies this name.
The canyons, gorges, untouched forests, lakes, and mangrove swamps of the reserve boast an astonishing richness of fauna and flora, not fully documented yet.
The endemism rate is about 85%, with 47% being locally endemic.
The duration and difficulty of the hike will be discussed and decided on-site.
Overnight stay at the same hotel. |
|
Day 8 - Bekopaka to Morondava
Journey of 200 km off-road
Departure after breakfast towards Morondava, first crossing the Manambolo River on the small ferry, then driving to Belo sur Tsiribihina.
Crossing the Tsiribihina River by ferry, and then passing through the Baobab Alley, just before sunset, a magical moment!
Continue to Morondava and overnight stay at the hotel. |
|
Day 9 - Morondava Rest Day
After all these kilometers, you will enjoy a well-deserved rest day at the hotel.
Morondava is an infinitely relaxed coastal town with sandy streets and a gently decaying ambiance. In the town itself, there isn't much to do or see, but nearby attractions include the famous Avenue of the Baobabs. |
|
Day 10- From Morondava to Antsirabe
Day trip of 484 km on the road
Start early for this long journey from the Mozambique Channel to the highest city in Madagascar.
Lunch in Miandrivazo and continue driving to Antsirabe where you will arrive in the afternoon. |
|
Day 11 - Antsirabe to Antananarivo
Day trip of 170 km road
After spending a long time in nature, in the heat of the west and along the seemingly endless baobab and thorn forests of the west coast, it is very pleasant to feel the cool air of the highlands.
This final stage of this extraordinary tour gives guests a different perspective than at the beginning, where the same route was traveled in the opposite direction.
These were the first impressions of Madagascar, around 2000km full of unforgettable experiences have been traveled since then. |
|
Day 12 - Return Flight or Extension Tour
