COSAFA U17 GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP 2024
The Malagasy girls emerged victorious in their match against the South Africans in the COSAFA U17 Girls Championship, with a score of 1-0. The U17 Barea girls have had a faultless journey since the beginning of the tournament, securing a victory against the Namibians first (5-0), then against the Malawians (3-2), and today against the South Africans, who were considered the favorites in Group B. The Malagasy team has now advanced to the final phase of the competition.

ZOONOTIC DISEASES
A national symposium on zoonotic diseases in Madagascar, organized by the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar (IPM), will be held from December 16th to 18th at Carlton Anosy. The objective of this event is to create a conducive space for scientific exchanges and collaboration among the various stakeholders involved in the fight against zoonotic diseases in the country, stated the IPM. These diseases are transmitted from animals to humans. Some do not affect the animal, but can make humans sick. This symposium is primarily aimed at researchers, public health and animal professionals, students, field workers, policy makers, institutional decision makers, as well as technical and financial partners.

SPORTS MEDICINE AND DOPING
Madagascar is hosting for the second time the Regional Indian Ocean Seminar on Sports Medicine and Doping. The objective is to share knowledge on sports medicine and doping with doctors, physiotherapists, technicians, and athletes. This seminar, led by the Malagasy Olympic Committee in partnership with several local and international organizations, brings together representatives from the Comoros, Mayotte, Mauritius, and Seychelles. It also aims to provide recommendations for the International Games Council (IGC), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as well as the entire sports movement and support the preparation of the Indian Ocean Island Games 2027 which will take place in the Comoros, while addressing post-COVID-19 updates.

EDBM
Due to the closure of accounting and end-of-year activities, the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM) will receive the last files for long-stay visa applications and work authorizations on December 27, 2024. Moreover, the deadline for submitting business creation files is set for Tuesday, December 24, 2024. EDBM services will resume normally starting from Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 8:30 am, as indicated.
